The chair of King Solomon






This chair is going under the hammer at Frank Marshall in Cheshire and the catalogue description reads:


A Victorian oak Masonic Master's seat, Sincerity Lodge no. 428, the triangular corniced surmount painted with an 'all-seeing eye' above the verse 'VIDE AVDI TACE', above recessed panelled back and seat, flanked on either side by column support, total width approx. 145cm, total height approx. 244cm NB - This seat belonged to The Lodge of Sincerity no. 428 which was formed in Northwich in 1835. Many people have sat in this seat including Sir John Brunner, founder of ICI. The Lodge has now moved from The Victoria Club to a Golf Club and the seat is too large for The Golf Club. 

The estimate is £500 - £800

What a Burma

It is going under the hammer at Mullock's in Ludlow, Shropshire, with an estimate of £30-50.

Masonic collection for sale

Rosebery's auction house in London is selling the masonic collection of the late Mr Albert Edward Collins Nice. You can find the lots here.

There are 550 lots in total including watches, jewels, snuff boxes, jugs and tankards.

Some examples include this silver mounted coconut c. 1802, with an estimate of £250-£350.






 And this - a large 19th century Japanese lacquered mother of pearl box with an estimate of up to £600.



And this French, Napoleonic, prisoner of war, alabaster panel from around 1805 with an estimate of £200-£300



Plus this early 19th century papier mache snuff box with an estimate of £100-£150.



And lots of jewels...
